A well-known developer in the community of Dogecoin (DOGE), who goes by the pseudonym Mishaboar, recently sparked discussions about integrating the memecoin Dogecoin into cryptocurrency payments on platform X.
Since Elon Musk acquired the social media platform in October 2022, there have been numerous speculations within the cryptocurrency community about the integration of DOGE into the X payment system. Mishaboar commented on the potential integration, focusing on the ongoing debate surrounding the resource.
“Dear Dogecoin, with X’s new payment agency acquiring more licenses in the US, there is speculation about implementing crypto payments on the platform. Last year, Elon mentioned that the first phase of X Payments would not include crypto – I’m not sure if that has changed now. Earlier this month, Elon stated that X is very close to obtaining a money transmitting license in California. However, it will still take a few months to obtain a license in NY.”
A member of the DOGE community responded to the developer’s post, saying: “I don’t see why crypto would be included in the first phase. It would be cool, but in practice, fiat would come first and crypto second if things go well. It’s best not to get your hopes up about speculation. Who knows?”
Mishaboar agreed with the member’s comment, saying: “I think you hit the nail on the head, that’s what I think too. I hope that the crypto aspect of X payments will also involve collaboration with some exchanges or brokerage platforms, but who knows? We will see.”
