The source of this prediction is none other than Matthew Sigel, the head of digital asset research at VanEck, who shared his insights in a recent interview with Bankless.
Sigel emphasized Ethereum’s immense potential, setting a bullish target of $22,000 in a recent report. According to him, the cryptocurrency has the capability to reach a six-figure price and increase its market share significantly.
Sigel explained, “In this scenario, ETH would capture 90% of all smart contract value intermediation, resulting in high penetration rates. As a result, Ethereum would represent approximately 15% of the total financial markets, 50% of the advertising market hosted on open source blockchains, and between 20% and 25% of the information technology (IT) infrastructure and artificial intelligence (AI) that utilize open source blockchain technology.”
In addition to Ethereum’s potential, Sigel also highlighted the influence of the global macroeconomic landscape on the cryptocurrency’s prospects. He suggested that if emerging markets thrive while the US dollar weakens, and if the US regulatory state either fully embraces or relinquishes open source digital assets to other countries, Ethereum could capture a significant portion of the value.
VanEck recently released a report reiterating their base target for Ethereum, stating that they expect the price to reach $22,000 by 2030. This projection represents a remarkable appreciation of 4,225% from the current price.
