The crux of this update lies in its profound alterations to both Ethereum’s consensus and execution layers, meticulously detailed in EIP-7569. These protocol adjustments are robust, encompassing everything from transient storage opcodes (EIP-1153) to integrating the Beacon block root into the EVM (EIP-4788), alongside Shard Blob transactions (EIP-4844) and numerous other innovations aimed at enhancing network efficiency and security.
To ensure a seamless transition, the Ethereum Foundation has published a comprehensive list of supported client versions for the Dencun update. These include Lighthouse, Lodestar, Nimbus, Prysm, and Teku for the consensus layer, and Besu, Erigon, go-ethereum, Nethermind, and Reth for the execution layer.
