The financial market’s boundaries are continuously expanding with the help of blockchain innovation, as Bitfinex Securities and Mikro Kapital join forces to introduce two groundbreaking tokenized securities that aim to transform access to alternative investments.
Bitfinex Securities, a distinguished platform for tokenized securities on the Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange, confirmed the launch of these new offerings on July 1. The bonds, to be officially issued on July 3 by Alternative, the securitization division of Mikro Kapital, a prominent player in the microfinance industry.
The newly announced bonds come with appealing returns: one offering a 10% annual yield for 11 months, and the other providing a 13.5% annual yield over 36 months. Both bonds will be issued monthly, with the goal of raising between US$500,000 and US$10 million every month, requiring a minimum investment of US$125,000. Bitfinex Securities expressed enthusiasm for this fresh opportunity: “This initiative presents an alternative investment avenue with potentially higher returns compared to traditional fixed-income options.”
In addition, these securities will operate through the Liquid Network, a Bitcoin sidechain developed by Blockstream. This technology not only simplifies the issuance of securities but also enables the implementation of whitelists and transfer restrictions to ensure compliance with regulatory standards in the financial industry.
The release of these bonds is of significant importance as it signifies the second issuance of tokenized bonds resulting from the collaboration between Bitfinex Securities and Mikro Kapital. The journey began in October 2023 when the two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the tokenization and trading of debt securities. This partnership saw the launch of the ALT2612 bond in December, which raised $5.2 million and offered a 10% return over 36 months.
